Engineering System

Job description

As Design Engineer, you work on mechanical systems such as brakes and drives. Your goal is finding the right balance between the technical requirements and production costs of your design. You preferably have the capabilities to perform analytical and FEA stress calculations followed by a fatigue or static strength assessment.

Your main duties are:

  • You are responsible for the development of mechanical systems
  • You coordinate projects internally or externally to review design preconditions, including manufacturability and optimisation
  • You are tasked with design validation, using tools such as FMEA and Hazard Analysis
  • You evaluate and integrate various standards that apply to the design or design verifications
  • You make (analytical or numerical) static or dynamic calculations to determine loads or movements that are applicable to a system
  • You make (analytical or numerical) stress calculations followed by a fatigue or static strength assessment on the basis of advanced strength verification methods
  • You define and calculate the location of drive and brake systems and test their compliance with regulations and system specifications.
  • You supervise and coordinate design and analysis work at external agencies.
  • You are part of a multidisciplinary project team as early as the concept design stage, whereby interface monitoring is as necessary as it is crucial.

The software packages we use are:

  • Solid Edge, AutoCAD (CAD Design)
  • Matlab, Mathcad, Ansys, Hyperworks (Kinematic, dynamic and strength analyses)
