On short notice, we are looking for a:
Research & Analysis Intern - Effect of modeling on dynamic response
Living in the Netherlands or within commuting distance of the main office in Vlodrop
Duration: 10 to 15 weeks.
The dynamic behavior of a rollercoaster vehicle is a crucial aspect of its design. Excitation of an eigenmode, for example, can negatively impact the ride experience. To prevent undesired dynamic behavior, it is essential to understand a vehicle’s behavior as early as possible in the design phase.
One of the first steps in analyzing dynamic behavior is determining the vehicle's eigenmodes. This internship focuses on investigating how different modeling choices influence the resulting eigenmodes and frequencies. By comparing these models, it is possible to draw conclusions on which detail level is required and which parts of detail barely contribute.
The following modeling approaches will be considered:
Rigid beam vehicle mechanism with flexible buffers and wheel covers.
Flexible beam vehicle mechanism with flexible buffers and wheel covers.
Shell-based vehicle mechanism with flexible buffers and wheel covers.
Both local and global modes can be investigated. Additionally, this study may provide insight into whether further investigation of flexible bodies in MBD (Multibody Dynamics) is worthwhile.
